Tiles- A necessity for a contemporary home

As marble prices begin to squeeze purses in these times of meltdown, tiles are making deeper encroachment into metropolitan homes. Plus they are receiving more fashionable makeovers to go well with market demands.

For example- a purposeful kitchen paneled with rich chocolate and marble-toned Venice designer kitchen tiles - among a panel of Tuscany, a tile that wears a brown polished wooden finish for company. Or else a bathroom made with the black, grey and green shades of designer bathroom tiles. Tiles are undoubtedly the new fashion statements for homes.

Interior designers advise tiles in shades of rich brown, beige and earthy tones or else the icy grey, green and cool blue for the Indian homes. The rich as well as natural colors go well with Indian type of weather and nature.

Marble cannot toy with as many colors as tiles. It has lost its edge due to price increases, competitive costing and changing demands in the property business. It moreover weighs more and is short of tonal varieties when compared to the latest choice of designer tiles in the market. It's not that designer imported tiles are economical, but marble usually costs more.

In India over the past few months, people have seen that customer designs and tastes have developed. The most recent trends in the tile section in India have been moving to and fro between two ends. Tiles with metallic textures and outlines marked in gold and silver are hot in high-end lavish homes that have a preference for a rich look. Tiles with the natural finish of marble and wood are preferred in apartment blocks and in utility homes.

The Indian market is swamped with a variety of alternatives in branded tiles and conditional on what you pick up, costs can show a discrepancy anywhere between Rs 22-200 per sq ft. From usual ceramic tiles to high range vitrified tiles, the market has never looked better.

Companies are also offering industrial and tough tiles. Somany is intensifying its basket into VC Shield (for high-density areas similar to subways and public places) as well as Durastone heavy duty vitrified tiles.
